Coastal Hemp Company provides a high-quality brand of hemp and other natural and organic merchandise that provides the consumer with a variety of choices aimed towards consumers that want to take control of their health and make informed choices for their physical and mental wellness needs.

Coastal Hemp Company’s mission is to assist in growing the natural and organic economies and educating the public thus allowing them to make informed health and wellness decisions that benefit them and the community.

How we became Coastal Hemp Company

The idea for a natural and organic store began back in 1999 when Melissa became a NP, but it was not the right time. The idea for a natural/organic store came up again in 2014, but again, it was just not the right timing. In Oct/Nov of 2018, Dale brought up the idea to Melissa and asked if she would join him in this new exciting venture and manage the business end of things. Since the idea of a Natural/Organic company had already been an idea of the past and was still desired, Melissa accepted the offer and the rest is history!!

A Few Words About Our Team

Melissa Becker, MSN

President

Melissa worked as an RN for 17 years and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner for 3 years, then moved into new drug research in 2002 where she had oversight and responsibility of clinical trial studies on a global level and managed multi-million dollar projects. She also is fluent in FDA regulations in reference to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and works as a private consultant and auditor for clinical research Bio-techs, Pharmaceutical companies and Clinical Research Organizations (CROs).Melissa grew up in Hawaii on the island of Oahu in a little town called Red Hill and transplanted with her father, mother and 3 siblings, to N.C. in 1983. Her father was a military man and served in the Coast Guard for 33 years. She loves teaching and helping people in general. Her hobbies include, Kenpo Martial Arts, Concerts, Entertaining and Cooking and spending time with her hubby (Dale Becker) and their pup Sammy.

Dale, another owner and also her spouse, grew up in construction and worked his way up to Superintendent and then moved into the media/entertainment industry and currently works as a freelancer for NASCAR and other major networks (FOX, ESPN, BSI, Netflix, etc.).Dale grew up in Ohio and still loves building or creating beautiful spaces like our store. He transplanted to N.C., in 2002, at the encouragement of his wife and instantly loved the area, the people, our neighbors and considers Wilmington, N.C. his home. His hobbies include, Gardening, Small re-modeling activities for family and friends, Concerts, Metallica, spending time with his wife (Melissa Becker) and their pup Sammy.

Nicole Grindstaff

Business Advisor

Nicole, another owner and close friend, works as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for one of the largest contract packaging companies (South Atlantic Services (SAS) in the country. Nicole grew up in Michigan and transplanted to Wilmington, NC 20 years ago. She is happily married with 2 beautiful children. She loves Gardening, Camping, Traveling to exotic locations and spending time with good friends. She is a natural enthusiast and was thrilled when the team asked if she would join them in this endeavor to create a Natural and Organic retail boutique.
